The division of Governmental Affairs has responsibility for activities that affect the governance of our profession. Optometry is a legislated profession with its laws regulated by state and national legislatures plus various regulatory boards. It is the responsibility of this position to monitor and inform the membership of issues that affect the ways in which we practice. While our society is non-partisan, we also can impact legislation through discourse with our legislators through our Legislative and PAC (Political Action Committee) co-chairs. Additionally we have co-chairs who handle Peer Review and also Third Party Plans.
