Dear Colleagues,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.

The Bay Area Optometric Council (BAOC) is planning a "Meet and Greet" event for Scott Kamena, OD to help raise funds for his run for state As- sembly. Assemblyperson Wilma Chan will also be present. It will be on May 18 at UCBSO from 9:00am to noon. The specific room has not yet been announced. I will post more information as I receive it. It would be great to have another optometrist in the state legislature who understands optometry issues such as protecting the future of our profession's existence in the state of CA. Please plan to go.

COA leadership training and understanding local society doctors' concerns are addressed annually at the Presidents' Council and Leadership Conference. This year, the meeting will be held Sept 26- 27 in Indian Wells, CA (Palm Springs) at the Hyatt Grand Champion Resort. Please let your SCCOS board of directors know what is Important to you, so we can present them at the conference. This is where issues presented will be prioritized to be acted upon by COA in the coming year after approval at House of Delegates in Feb 2009.

Please SAVE the Date, December 7th for the Annual BAOC CE Meeting which will be at Scott's in Jack London Square, Oakland this year. More specifics will be posted as they are finalized.

Anyone interested in attending KeyPerson Day, April 15th in Sacramento, please contact myself or a board member. I have a summary of SB1406 and a sheet of how to talk about it to legislators from David Redman, COA President. If anyone would like a copy, I can fax it to you.

See you all at our April 17th general meeting.
